PKOLS Native Plant Walk

PKOLS (Mount Douglas Park) is a beloved natural space on the Saanich Peninsula, offering over 21 km of trails through the region’s largest urban forest. Its diverse ecosystems stretch from rocky summit outcrops to coastal tide lines.

PKOLS is also a sacred site for the W̱SÁNEĆ and Lekwungen peoples—a place of gatherings, ceremonies, and deep cultural significance. As Tsawout Elder Eric Pelkey shares, PKOLS was created by XÁLS, the Creator, who marked it as a boundary of W̱SÁNEĆ territory with sacred stones. Visitors are encouraged to explore respectfully and help protect its delicate habitats and powerful cultural legacy.
