Strawberry Buzz Festival, June 24-25 – a seasonal celebration of flavour

Summer is on it’s way and so is the divine goodness of local strawberries!  For us here at Flavour Trails this means only one thing: the Saanich Peninsula Strawberry Buzz Festival, June 24 & 25!! Following in the footsteps of our previus Strawberries and Wine Festivals, the Strawberry Buzz Festival is part festival, part rural ramble, and has expanded to include more venues, more food and beverage sampling, more activities for young and old, and music throughout the weekend! Download map and brochure here and start planning!

In addition to all of the farms, wineries, cideries, distilleries, cafe’s and markets opening their doors/gates extra wide over the weekend, there will be two special events taking place, both fundraisers for the Capital Region Food and Agriculture Initiative Roundtable (CRFAIR):

Simply deVine Pig Roast. Saturday, June 24, 1-4pm at deVine Vineyard – $30 – Culinary and musical magic!  Succulent roast pig on a spit, drizzled with chef Mitchell Morse’s (The Fickle Fig) signature blueberry bbq sauce, served with home-made brioche bun, two stunning side salads, and topped with a local strawberry dessert. All of this while sipping drinks and overlooking the Saanich Peninsula and Haro Stait, and listening to the fresh-from-the-Montreal-Jazz-Festival sounds of “Slim Sandy and the Hillbilly Beboppers”.  Price includes full meal and music.  Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, including the Muddled deVine Kiss, available at additional cost.   Purchase online tickets here.

Family Strawberry Pancake Breakfast – Sunday, June 25, 9-11am.  Dan’s Farm Market. $8adults/$kids.  No tickets required. This is not your average pancake breakfast, this is the real deal!! Home make pancakes piled high with local un-sprayed berries and sauce, topped even higher with whip cream and finished off with a sprig of mint.  You will be floating on cloud nine and ready to tackle the strawberry fields and fill up your freezers for winter!!
