1438 Mt Newton Cross Road, Saanichton

On September 15 Saanich Organics is hosting a long table dinner in the Mount Newton Valley to help raise funds for a new walk-in cooler – it’s promised to be “a party much cooler than most.” It will be a long table dinner with food grown on-site and deliciously prepared by chef Amy Loewen with bartending by her charming husband Vince.  Ali from Spinnakers is preparing truffles: white chocolate and dandelion truffle, dark chocolate basil & mint truffle and sweet tomato sorbet.  Flowers grown and arranged by Brian Stretch will decorate the tables.

“Not only will it be a wonderful afternoon and evening of amazing food, but you’ll be supporting our recent expansion that is allowing us to grow more good food for our community.”

There’s a farm tour planned for  4 p.m., followed by dinner at 5:30 p.m.  Tickets are $50, available at Niagara Grocery or at Saanich Organics tables at Moss Street Market, James Bay Market or the Wednesday market at the Hudson (11am – 3 pm).  Tickets also available by phone at 250-818-5807.  www.saanichorganics.com
